In Memory of Teddy V.

Teddy V.

Friends,

Sadly, we mourn the loss of our beloved, veteran Roxy pup, Teddy. Teddy was an amazing dog who truly spread his joy everywhere he went visiting schools, court, and Pedia Manor for 10 years. He will be missed by many.

Here are some words from his owner/handler, Tracey Vazquez:

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I tell you of Teddy's passing.

He had a wonderful life; we only wish he could have stayed with us a little longer.

Teddy started volunteering in 2013 with Roxy. He was a young, energetic half English Cream Golden Retriever and a true star when it came to visiting kids. He was camera shy, always facing the kids instead of the camera! It was hard to get a good picture of him. He loved chasing tennis balls, loved peanut butter bones, and walks, even at the end of his wonderful life.

Teddy turned 12 years old on October 18th and had scaled back quite a bit from his duties due to his advanced age. He always knew right away when his Roxy bandana went on that he was going to visit the kids! He currently had two classrooms this year at the elementary level that he was visiting on a regular basis.

Teddy was one of 7 teams to start the pilot program at Pedia Manor, a home for medically fragile children, that was thought to benefit the kids who mostly lived in the home. He continued for many years visiting all 3 homes until 2020 when covid shut everything down. Out of the 7 original teams, Teddy was the only one who continued on a regular basis. He helped train many new teams who were interested in visiting Pedia Manor.

He also volunteered at the Courthouse and Justice Center and was part of the Courthouse program Orientation team. In addition, Teddy was part of the Nova Victims of Violent Crimes in the DA's office.

Teddy visited many schools and children over his 10 years as a Roxy Therapy Dog. He volunteered at CB East with the kids to help relieve their stress during their exams. He volunteered at many of the Doylestown farmers market and Del Val A-day events. He volunteered to visit the First Responders when needed.

His last visit was to Pine Run Elementary School on January 3rd, one day after being diagnosed with advanced cancer. Sadly, Teddy passed on January 13th, 11 days after being diagnosed. We are heartbroken that he was taken so quickly from us.

He will always be in our hearts.
