In Memory of Anya

Anya

Friends,

It is with a very heavy heart that we mourn the loss of a Roxy veteran. Sweet Anya crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. She was truly a beloved dog and we will miss her greatly.

Here are some words from her owner/handler, Phyllis Mikolaj:

It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that Anya has passed away.

I will always hold a very special place in my heart for her as she was my first Golden, first bigger dog, first therapy dog and the reason I got involved with Roxy Therapy Dogs over 10 years ago. I will always be grateful that she was able to do what she loved most and that was spending time with the kids at school. She absolutely loved that up until her last visit just last week.

I am so happy that I was able to share her with everyone and could see the joy she put on everyone’s face when they came in contact with her. There are so many great memories that I have with her from her school visits, to her love of her tennis balls and going in the pool to her times doing paw prints for our Roxy Book launching.

One of my most favorite things is watching her strut down the hallways at school and the kids yelling her name and that is a memory I will always treasure. Now it’s time for Katie and Sydney to try to step in and help the kids at school get over the loss of their dear Anya.

Thanks again for allowing us to do what we so enjoyed together and having such a great organization to be part of!!

Anya loved visiting with her friends at Gayman.
