Anniversary Accolades: Gayman ES

“It has been my great honor and pleasure to be a part of the Roxy™ Therapy Dogs program for over a decade! This program has had a profoundly positive impact on the social-emotional well-being of hundreds of students who have passed through my classroom in that time. When our special therapy dog and its handler enter the classroom (and our elementary school building in general) the students, teachers and the building itself seem to smile and be at ease.

Children with specific issues revolving around school anxiety, social nervousness or even difficulty reading seem to blossom with the help of Roxy’s big-hearted handlers as well as their beautiful and comforting dogs.

Over the years, the kids in my classroom have raved about the program, written essays or created presentations about its impact and even attended public events in support of Roxy Therapy Dogs. Many hundreds of children have enjoyed and benefited from our weekly visits. In particular, I have noticed that children with specific issues revolving around school anxiety, social nervousness or even difficulty reading seem to blossom with the help of Roxy’s big-hearted handlers as well as their beautiful and comforting dogs.

Our Roxy handler and her dogs have become a part of our annual classroom family as well as a part of the fabric of our school. In every way, I would highly recommend this incredible program, and am thankful it is offered and encouraged in our district.”
