When we pet dogs, science shows our blood pressure goes down 10% within 15 minutes. Our heart rate slows. And our depression fighting hormones increase.
It’s pretty incredible what dogs can do.
For 20 years, Roxy™ Therapy Dogs has helped the children of Bucks County. You may have heard of us from our roots—our reading program—but we are so much more.
Roxy volunteers support approximately 3,200 children a week. Support is provided in all 23 Central Bucks School District Schools, at the Courthouse, at Pedia Manor, and through our crisis response team when needed. We help kids learn to read and reduce stress and anxiety.
The requests for our volunteer teams keep growing, and we want to ensure we never have to say ‘no’ to a child in need.
We currently have 85 teams, and we need MORE.
That’s where you come in.
Performance dogs are already halfway to passing their therapy dog certification. Obedience, rally, and agility dogs know the basic sit, stay, and down commands in the test and can stay calm in busy environments. Conformation dogs accept handling. They all know how to stay focused in crowded environments.
